Monogram Etiquette Guide

Here is a brief explanation of today's monogram etiquette:

1. MONOGRAMMING FOR MARRIED COUPLE OPTIONS

A popular option today is for married couples to combine the bride and groom's initials in the following order, her first name, married last name, his first name. Example: Jody and Mike Wright would look like JWM.

A second option is a more traditional couples method. This involves the bride's initials in the order of her first name, married last name, maiden name. Example: Jody Smith Wright would look like JWS.

2. MONOGRAMMING FOR WOMEN - MARRIED/UNMARRIED OPTIONS

A married woman’s monogram is commonly placed in the order of her first name, married last name, maiden name. Example: Jody Smith Wright would look like JWS.

An unmarried woman’s monogram is commonly placed in the order of her first name, last name, middle name. Example: Courtney Elizabeth Wright would look like CWE.

3. MONOGRAMMING FOR MEN

We use a modern approach to personalizing items for men and place letters in order of first name, last name, middle name.  A popular approach is to use one initial for the last name as well.  Example: Frank Lee Smith would look like FSL. The other option would be to use last name letter only. Example: S

4. MONOGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN/BABY

Kids use the same monogram guidelines for adults.
